Smartlist Frequently Asked Questions

Our database is constantly evolving! If you have information about a specific city that you'd like to see added, we'd love to hear from you. Please contact us through our helpdesk and we'll work with you to incorporate that city into our list.

To update the app on a kosher phone, you will need to contact the person or entity from whom you purchased the device or whoever initially downloaded the app for you.

1. Send a blank email to smartlist.android@smartlistlocal.com.
2. You should get an email in response with email addresses to receive any location's list by email. When you get an email with an attached .list file, save this file to your phone. (If you do not have email on your phone, you can open the email on your computer, and save via USB to your phone.)
3. Go to the Manage Databases screen in Smartlist (Main screen side menu -> Manage Locations), and select 'Browse' from the menu.
4. Find the .list file you saved, and select the list. If it gives you an option of how to download, you can choose 'Normal Android Way'. That location's list should automatically download or update on your Smartlist!

Check in the Play/App store to ensure you are using the latest version of our app. If you do not have access to the Play/App store delete the databases and install them again.

Only businesses that are registered are listed on Smartlist. You can log in to view unregistered businesses. To register your business click here.

To update a listing on the website:
1. Click on White Pages on the navigation bar.
2. Search for the desired listing.
3. Click Edit.

Delete and redownload the city.
To do so:
1. Make sure you have at least one other location already downloaded. You cannot delete all locations; you must have at least one remaining.
2. Go to the Menu > Choose Manage Locations > Click the 3 bar menu next to the location you are having trouble with > Tap the delete icon.
3. Redownload the location.

Android: Open the sliding menu in the app. Click "More". Tap "Manage Locations". Locations with updates available will show an update icon. Click the icon to update.

Blackberry: Go to the menu in the app. Go to "Databases". Choose "Get and Update Databases".

iPhone: From the Listings view, press the drop down arrow under the location name on the top center of the screen, then choose ‘More Locations’ to get to the location download screen. Alternately, you can go the ‘More’ tab and choose ‘Locations’.

Android: Stretch or pinch the screen with two fingers.

Blackberry: Go to the menu and choose "Options".

iPhone: By changing the default font settings on your phone.

The following devices are not compatible:
Palm Web OS
Windows Phone 7 OS (WP7)

Blackberry: To install the application - download to a computer and use bb desktop to install it onto your device. To get the databases - send blank email to smartlist.bb@smartlistlocal.com and follow the included instructions.

Palm: Download to your computer and use Hotsync (or any other method, such as a sd card) to copy it to your device.

Windows Mobile:Download to your computer. Copy the CAB installation file to an SD card or to your device. On your device, use File Explorer to launch the installation file.

Jave Enabled Phones This will work on many devices, but we cannot guarantee that it will work on all devices. Download to your computer. Copy the JAR file to an SD card. On your device, use the File Explorer to browse to the JAR file on the card and open it. This hopefully will start the installation.

Smartlist is not able to be downloaded on a computer. You can search white pages on our website.

We extended the expiration so that it should continue working, but we will not develop it anymore.
